Ethics of scientific publications

The main aim of the magazine “Education Technology Informatics” is to conduct an international discussion regarding basic problems of technical, vocational, informatics and information education. The discussion is held to pay attention to the development of informatics and information technologies, in particular pedagogical consequences for the information society which has been created.

Diligence of scientific works shall be a fundamental basis of their quality. Each person using this kind of studies shall be convinced and reliability of the authors who shall take any endeavours so as the results of their work shall be presented in a clear, reliable and honest form depict their research and considerations regardless of the fact whether the research has been performed personally or in cooperation with specialist units and persons.

The confirmation of the ethic conduct of a scientific worker as well as high editing standards shall constitute non-confidentiality of information on all persons and institutions which in any case contributed to the emergence of the presented study. It constitutes a proof of high social competences.

In order to provide the highest standards of reliability and honesty of scientific works, the editing staff of the journal “Education Technology Computer Science”, pursuant to the recommendations of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Poland, has undertaken steps so as to eliminate ghost-writing* and guest authorship**.

The publication has an international team of reviewers.

Rights and obligations of authors, editors and reviewers:

  • Articles are published provided that the authors agree on passing all copyrights onto the magazine “Education Technology Informatics”.
  • The author of the article guarantees full originality of his/her work. Using other works or fragments must be marked as a citation.
  • Submitted articles shall not be earlier published in other magazines in full nor any of its significant part.
  • The author has to provide all sources which may have an influence on the final content of the publication; information obtained in the private talk, correspondence or discussion with third parties as well as obtained during providing services e.g. editing services, results of expertise reports, developing reports cannot be used unless the author has expressed his/her written consent.
  • The research results and their course and manner of performing analyses cannot be previously published in other magazines nor sent to their editors.
  • The author may be asked by the editorial office to provide raw research results, on the basis of which, the analysis has been made along with the conclusions in the submitted article.
  • In the event, the author identifies a mistake in the article, he/she shall be obliged to immediately notify editors and the publisher of the magazine in order to perform indispensible corrections or withdrawing the article from printing.
  • The team of authors should be limited to the persons who significantly contributes to the article (conception, project, performance or interpretation of the research results). All persons contributing significantly shall be mentioned as co-authors. It is not allowed to join the persons who has not participated in the creation of the work as co-authors. The author shall care so as all co-authors have confirmed the final version of the article.
  • Editors of the magazine “Education Technology Informatics” shall make a decision on printing an article only and exclusively.
  • The author shall reveal all sources of finance with regard to the project, course, work, interpretation and publication of research results.
  • The publisher shall obey the laws regarding intellectual property rights and similar.
  • The editor shall assess the articles due to their factual reasons, regardless of their race, nationality, gender, religious beliefs, ethnical background, sexual orientation or political attitudes of the author.
  • The editor cannot disclose any information on the works submitted to anybody except for the author, reviewers and editing consultants.
  • The information regarding the project, its course and works and interpretation of research results cannot be used by editors nor reviewers for own research without express and explicit consent of the author.
  • Editing office provides the contact with the author of the article in order to solve conflicts connected with the submitted manuscript.
  • Editors provides double-blind review. Reviewers unaware of the identity of the authors and authors are also unaware of the identity of reviewers.
  • The assessment of article by reviewers shall not be influenced by the conflict of interests connected with competition, cooperation with other authors or institutions or companies of the author of the publication.
  • Article reviewers are obliged to immediately assess the obtained materials, if it deems to be impossible, they shall inform the editing office.
  • Reviewers assess the article only and exclusively due to factual factors with the justification of presented arguments and maintaining full objectivism.
  • Reviewers shall define essential publications which have not been cited in the article. Each prompt or recommendation which has not been indicated in the review or leading comments, shall be applied by the author. Reviewers are obliged to inform the editor about any probability or coverage of the manuscript with other published and known works.
  • Unpublished materials cannot be treated as a review of own studies, nor used by the reviewers in any kind without express consent given by their author.
  • In the case of non-compliance with these requirements redakacja has a right to reject the article.

*Ghost-writing is when a person has a significant contribution to the creation of the publication and is not mentioned as a co-author or it is not mentioned in the acknowledgements included in the studies.

**Guest authorship is when a person is included as the author of the publication, who has not contributed to any studies or has been insignificant.
